Prairie Poetry
  Blackberries

Whispering in her sad ear
I recall briars of summer
The dance she did
When caught between
Thorn and the snake,
Green and frightened,
Dizzy from the scream
Announcing its presence
It disappeared, lost in a field
Where blackberries grow.
