Muse of My Antiquated Quilt

An heirloom immortalizing hushed voices,
My smoother texture's woven from their simpler living;
Worn patches create a relic of balanced beauty
To nestle layers of dreams by night and
Become a crosslink to your mother's people by day.

Honored to be pierced by spirits so loyal,
I am pieced together by history's threads;
Salvaging faded tales for your future by
Blocking palettes of calico chatter and colorful lore.
I yoke their skillful fingers to your thankful hearts
And bind remnants into a timeless treasure
To welcome everyone home.

Covering you with years of homespun warmth,
My broken threads prove restful lineage;
So touch softly
And gently spread
My fragile fibers of heredity in hue
To snuggle your newly sown scions,
This gift of old, once again, new.
